mon animal imaginaire
Students are working on a project about "mon animal imaginaire". They have chosen two or three animals, learned their names in French and are combining the features to create a new animal. They have learned body parts for people and animals. They are reviewing things we learned in past years, for example, colours, actions, foods, habitats and adjectives. They are writing in paragraphs about their animal and drawing a coloured picture of their creature for their good copy in their scrapbook.
How can I help at home?
Ask your child which animals they have chosen. What name did they make up for their creature? Have them name 5 - 7 body parts for you. Encourage them to draw a coloured picture of their creature, and label some body parts at home.

au marché
We have been learning vocabulary for fruits, vegetables and meats. We want to be able to make a shopping list, go to a market, read the price in French and purchase items from our shopping list. We will be looking for good value and we will also need to give the correct amount of money and wait for our change. We will also learn the proper vocabulary to use when speaking with a sales clerk in the store.
How can I help at home?
In order to make attractive price lists for our market stands, Mme would like us to bring in grocery store flyers. Please help your child select some flyers to bring to school. Also, when looking through your refrigerator at home, can your child name any fruits, vegetables and meats en français?
Take your child to the grocery store and have them practice saying some prices and items in French.
